Italcementi was founded in 1864 and has been operating since 1927 under the name of Italcementi Spa. After several acquisitions abroad, in 1992 Italcementi achieved important international status with its take-over of Ciments francais,one of themain cement manufacturers in the world. In 1997 Italcementi consolidated its verticalisation strategy with acquiring of Calcestruzzi, thusbecoming Italian leader in the ready-mix concrete sector .since 1998 Italcementi Group has been pursuing its internationalization strategy  by acquiring new cement works Companies in Bulgaria, Kazakhstan, Thailand, Morocco, India, Egypt and the United States.

Italcementi Group is a member of the “world Business  Council for sustainable Development” ( WBCSD ),aims to satisfy present-day needs, safeguarding the requirements of  future generations, taking social, economic and environmental protection.Italcementi Group has recently set up a “ Steering Committee “ to monitor activities.
